Controlling Swelling Rhinoplasty

Every operation, no matter how small it is there is always swelling of the surrounding area or the surgical site, and Rhinoplasty is no exception. The swelling will vary from person to person and is greater if both the inside and outside of the nose have been operated on, or in patients who have undergone surgery to improve the breathing function of their nose. Here are some tips provided by the Dermatologist in Dubai to keep the swelling down after a rhinoplasty.
  • Keep the head elevated, upright or lifted up as much as possible after the surgery is performed. A patient should sleep with their head elevated for at least two weeks after surgery.
  • While resting, use a cold compress over the nose and mid-facial areas. Cold compresses are only effective for the swelling during the first 48 hours after surgery. After that, there is no need to use a cold compress to relieve the discomfort. Make sure when you are doing this that the compress is not wet or moist.
  • Don't bend over or lift any heavy things for two weeks. Bending over can aggravate the swelling as well as raise blood pressure and increase the chance of hemorrhaging.
  • Try as much as possible to avoid hitting or bumping the nose into things, especially during sleeping.
  • Avoid excess sun exposure on the face for at least four months as this will reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation. Normal exposure is ok, but don't overdo it, you can use a sunscreen with SPF 30. During the summer, sunscreen should be applied to the nose every two hours to avoid burning.
  • Patients who use hair dryers to dry their hair should only use a handheld blow dryer. Avoid sitting at an overhead dryer that is used at the hair salon for at least two weeks.
  • Avoid getting the nasal dressings wet. If the tape gets wet while having a shower simply pat it dry. If the patient notices the bandage coming off, the doctor should be notified.
  • Try to use the nose and touching the surrounding area as less as possible for at least the first week of surgery. It will not relieve the sensation of blockage a person feels, but it will aggravate this sensation, because suction created on the inside will cause more swelling says an expert in Cosmetic Dermatology in Dubai. Avoid blowing the nose for at least two weeks as this could lead to bleeding.
  • Avoid rubbing the nose or nostril with a tissue or handkerchief. It will aggravate the swelling, cause infection, bleeding or dislodge the cartilage inside the nose.
  • If the doctor has used dissolvable stitches at the base of the nose, clean them as instructed. Regularly cleaning the stitches will help keep the stitches and crust soft and more comfortable.
Usually, for patients who have undergone this type of Dermatology treatment in Dubai, doctors will advise them to use a saline nasal spray, to help clear the nostrils and any discomfort with breathing or nasal related.

Laser Hair Removal Myths in Dubai

The advantages and disadvantages of Laser Hair Removal in Dubai  are in abundance on the television, advertisements and the internet, so it can be a real challenge to make sense of myth and fact. Here is a look at what laser hair removal is and isn’t so that you choose the best option and have a safe treatment.
Myth: Laser Treatment is not safe
Laser Treatment in Dubai is very safe as long as it has been approved by the local Health Ministry and the FDA. Patients should ideally ask their doctors what sort of laser that is being used as some clinics may use cheap and low quality lasers that are not approved, resulting in disastrous effects.  Therefore, as long as the clinic is using lasers that has been determined safe, there is nothing to worry about.
Myth: Laser hair removal can cause a lot of hair growth
Dermatologist in Dubai says that there is no way a laser can create more hair growth. Human bodies are changing all the time, therefore with age, there could be people who lose hair in some places, while others may start growing hair in new places in their body. Laser hair removal can destroy hair follicles, but cannot prevent new ones from developing.
Myth: Despite the type of hair and color, laser treatment works for you and just about everyone.
Meet with a good Dermatologist to discuss the expected results. The end result of the treatment can vary according to the individuals hair color and skin type. While red hair can be difficult to remove, white and gray hair cannot be removed with laser treatment. Hairs that lack pigment cannot be removed as its impossible for the lasers to identify the hair follicles and destroy them.
Myth: Laser hair removal exposes a person to radiation
Experts in Cosmetic Dermatology in Dubai say that laser hair removal does not emit any radiation. While there could be radiation in between the light barriers of the laser, it does not exit the barriers and is not harmful to the recipient of laser hair removal in any way.
Myth: Permanent hair removal can be done in one session
The expert's at the Clinic will tell you that one session is not enough to get rid of hair growth. The reason for multiple treatment is because the hair grows in different cycles and growth at different times, so all hairs cannot be treated and targeted with one single treatment session. Receiving multiple treatment sessions are the only way to effectively destroy all hair follicles and this can be don't over a period of time.
Prior to deciding on having laser hair removal meet with a reputed expert for an initial consultation to have all your questions and concerns addressed. This is the best time to check about the type of lasers that are used by the clinic and if they are approved, the overall cost, the success rate of the treatment and the possible side effects that you may have as a result.
